Responsibilities of the Position Include:

Secretarial and administrative duties for the Biology Department and the Office of Student Research; assisting office visitors; updating the departmental websites; preparing letters, memoranda, evaluations, personnel recommendations, conference programs, and other routine documents; assisting in the preparation and processing of internal documents for departmental purchase, travel requisitions, and expense reimbursement; purchasing research supplies; arranging for student and faculty travel; assisting in room reservations; maintain departmental files; assisting with the preparation of course schedules; assisting in training, assigning, and supervising University student employees; and other duties as assigned.

The position is 35 hours per week August through May and 10 hours per week June and July. This position is eligible for full benefits.

Minimum Required Qualifications (education, skills, experience, other):

High School diploma or equivalent; demonstrated proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software (i.e., Microsoft Word and Excel); excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must have the ability to work independently, maintain a high level of confidentiality, maintain a professional and positive attitude; and must be detail-oriented with proven organizational skills.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate’s degree, two years of responsible secretarial experience; supervisory experience; proficiency in web design;  proficiency in database software; and experience in budget management.
