The Assistant/Associate Director of Admission for Recruitment is responsible for coordinating and implementing the overall recruitment plan to the admission counselors to reach outlined goals for inquiries, applicants, acceptances and enrolled students associated within their territory.  The Assistant/Associate Director supervises the Recruitment team and will work with each admission counselor to plan appropriate travel to school visits and college fairs, as well as plan cohort-specific events within their territories for prospective students, family members, high school contacts and alumni.  As a member of the Admission Leadership team, this professional will stay current on best practices specific to recruitment experiences for all prospective students and their stakeholders.

Recruitment

  • Supervise the Recruitment team, which includes traveling admission counselors and regional counselors

  • Under guidance of the Director of Admission, develop and implement a recruitment plan for admission counselors to adhere to for the academic year for high school seniors, juniors, and sophomores

  • Collaborate with Director of Admission in developing and implementing quantitative goals for each recruiter specific to inquiries, applicants, acceptances, and enrolled students

  • Optimize technology in executing recruitment tactics and goals

  • Enhance the current guidance counselor outreach methods for branding and name recognition throughout Missouri and the surrounding areas

  • The Assistant/Associate Director of Admission will be responsible for recruitment within a local territory

Marketing & Communications Collaboration

  • Educate recruitment team about the departmental marketing and communication plan

  • Provide direction and oversight to staff in completing the tasks required for effective implementation of the plan

  • Help envision ways to incorporate the use of technology into processes as we strive to make powerful and timely connections with prospective students

  • Actively participate in implementation of future admission technology products

  • Work with the Assistant Director of Admission to ensure all recruitment related sites and vendor partners are as up to date as possible

  • Collaborate with marketing efforts regarding needs from the recruitment team for continuous growth in the platform's content (write articles, post forums, add videos, add events, etc.) to assist with increased student interaction

  • Collaborate with Assistant Director with relevant departmental social media postings, such as admission counselor high school visits or videos featuring recruitment team members

Office Leadership

  • Actively participate in weekly meetings with senior admission staff,

  • Work with others in leading comprehensive efforts to effectively develop recruitment plans while meeting the needs of incoming and current students

  • Develop creative solutions to staffing and processes related to changing needs or direction

  • Serve as a resource to admission staff members and the greater University community in representing Truman State University

  • Participate in training of staff members

  • Work with the other senior staff members to create a supportive, enthusiastic, professional and efficient work environment

  • Lead regular meetings with the Recruitment team members to manage workload, monitor project progress, and assign new projects

  • Serve on the Admission Leadership team and associated committees/teams specific to new student recruitment efforts

Professional Development

  • Participate in online seminars regarding relevant professional issues in an effort to keep current about recruitment opportunities to enhance our operation

  • Attend professional conferences off-campus, as requested and as schedule permits

  • Participate in local and national professional associations

Documentation

  • Maintain documentation of processes related to major projects for future reference

Special Projects and Other Duties

  • Assist with campus tours and visits (as needed)

  • Actively provide and participate in departmental or university trainings

  • Provide support in answering the office phones, responding to questions, and following-up on requests

  • Assist with other mailings and projects

  • Research and report on admission recruitment trends and best practices

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Required qualifications include 3-5 years of higher education experience, recruitment or sales experience; Bachelor's degree; excellent public speaking and presentation skills; appreciation of the liberal arts in higher education; percent travel 15-20%; a valid driver's license; and willingness to work nights and weekends.  Preferred qualifications include previous experience with a customer relations manager, Technolutions Slate and previous supervisory experience.
