Administrative Assistant 1 (Veterans Representative & Commencement Coordinator), Registrar

Responsibilities 

This position reports directly to the Registrar and will serve as the Schools Certifying Officer (SCO) and point person for veterans and students utilizing veteran benefits, manages the graduation process and clearance process, coordinates commencement, and works with the Banner software system and with multiple academic and administrative departments across campus.  This position provides assistance to students, faculty and staff by phone, email, mail and in-person and ensures compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).  In addition, this position will perform other duties as assigned.  This is a full time, 12 month position with the starting hourly pay at $12.88.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent; proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and email software; evidence of oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and customer service skills, leadership skills, and strong organizational, critical thinking and problem solving skills; history of dependability, reliability, accuracy and attention to detail; exhibit professionalism, self-motivation and a strong work ethic; ability to maintain confidentiality of student records; and must be able to lift and move boxes up to 30 lbs.

Preferred qualifications include Bachelor's or associates degree; experience with college and registrar-related experience; an understanding of database management, specifically use of Banner software; experience with military service; and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
