The Career Ready Coach is responsible for providing one-on-one and small group coaching for students in the Residence Halls or involved in student organizations to facilitate the development and utilization of soft skills in preparation for future employment. The Career Ready Coach is also responsible for on-line and other types of educational programming to promote the development of soft skills including teamwork, leadership, communication, problem resolution, and professionalism. The Career Ready Coach is also responsible for promoting and securing internship opportunities for students. Some responsibilities will require evening and weekend hours beyond the normal workday. This is a ten month, full-time position.

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to communicate by telephone and direct contact on a daily basis

  • Must be able to operate computers, copy machines and other standard office equipment

  • Must be able to provide verbal/ visual/ electronic presentations to university personnel and students and to others as required

  • Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds

  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical functions related to budget, assessment and record keeping

  • Must be able to work university computer hardware and software as needed

  • Must be able to travel in performance of duties


Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and two to three years of successful work experience demonstrating teamwork, leadership, communication, problem resolution, and professionalism. Experience in creating and implementing educational programming.  Must possess a strong commitment to the development, welfare, and empowerment of students as patrons and employees.  Excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal and motivational interviewing skills necessary for successful coaching. 

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in counseling, education, business or field related to professional success and/ or coaching.  Experience working in career counseling, coaching or career ready programming.  Certification and/or training in professional coaching preferred.
