Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting office visitors;
  • Responding to emails from faculty, students, administrators, and others;
  • Preparing and managing the annual budget;
  • Preparing letters, memoranda, evaluations, personnel recommendations, and other routine documents;
  • Assisting the Chair and 31 CML faculty members in the preparation and processing of internal documents related to departmental purchases, travel, and other requisitions;
  • Maintaining department supplies and files;
  • Assisting with the preparation of course schedules;
  • Working with student employees;
  • Other duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities can be acquired; excellent written, organizational, interpersonal and verbal skills; demonstrated ability to take initiative and be proactive. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, able to multi-task, and able to deal with people in a respectful manner. Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office, are required.

Preferred qualifications include a college degree or coursework beyond high school, prior secretarial or office experience, and basic knowledge of how undergraduate education works.
