Responsibilities

This position is responsible for assisting students from the Kansas City metropolitan area and select regions of Kansas and Nebraska in making informed college decisions through relationship-building activities, disseminating information about Truman through large and small group presentations, telecounseling and individual interactions.  The Regional Admission Counselor will be a primary point of contact and an informational resource to prospective students, their families and area guidance counselors. Anticipated start date for this position is June 1, 2020.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree; exceptional communication skills (written & oral) and a strong commitment to customer service; a dedication to the importance of higher education; evidence of successful interactions with people from diverse backgrounds and age levels; ability to work in a collaborative environment within the University and with external constituencies; a record of success independently completing assigned projects with limited direct supervision; ability to travel extensively with a work schedule that can include evenings and weekends; the ability to lift/carry items ranging up to 40 lbs. in weight; and a valid driver's license.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 1-2 years of successful admission counseling experience; significant professional experience effectively using the Microsoft Office Suite; and an educational background with a liberal arts and sciences foundation at an accredited university.
