Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for assisting students in making informed college decisions through relationship building activities, disseminating information about Truman through high school visits, college fairs, large & small group presentations, telecounseling and individual interactions.  Admission Counselors serve as a primary point of contact and an informational resource to prospective students, their families and area guidance counselors.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree; exceptional communication skills (written & oral) and a strong commitment to customer service; a dedication to the importance of higher education; evidence of successful interactions with people from diverse backgrounds and age levels; ability to work in a collaborative environment within the University and with external constituencies; a record of success independently completing assigned projects with limited direct supervision; ability to travel extensively with a work schedule that can include evenings and weekends; the ability to lift/carry items ranging up to 40 lbs. in weight; and a valid driver's license.

Preferred qualifications include a minimum of 1-2 years of successful admission counseling experience; significant professional experience; the ability to effectively use Microsoft Office Suite; and an educational background with a liberal arts and sciences foundation at an accredited university.
