Position Summary

 

The Office of International Education at Truman State University seeks a motivated and organized International Admissions Coordinator to efficiently process international applications and assist in the recruitment and admission of international students. This position helps facilitate the university’s mission to recruit, support and retain a diverse student body.

 

The successful candidate is expected to perform the following duties:

 

Admissions Processing:

  • Organize and carry out the expedient and efficient processing of international applications
  • Utilize the university’s recruitment and admission software program (CRM) and work to develop additional processes and functions within the CRM
  • Oversee and carry out communication with prospective international applicants
  • Verify and analyze international application credentials
  • Admit qualified undergraduates and pre-screen and recommend graduate applications to academic departments
  • Serve as Designated School Official for F-1 international student program
  • Serve as Alternate Responsible Officer for J-1 Exchange visitor program
  • Access the federal SEVIS database to create student records and documents for student visa processing and update the SEVIS database as needed in conjunction with the International Student Advisor
  • Supervise student staff on the Admission Team and participate in the management of other teams
  • Manage the enrollment process for new international students
  • Create reports as needed for recruitment planning and admission tracking

 

Recruiting:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of various recruitment activities for international applicants
  • Engage in some domestic and international travel for international student recruitment purposes
  • Develop and maintain recruitment relationships abroad and participate in the training and updating of partners and professional agents overseas
  • Work with the other professional staff members to develop communication plans for prospective students in general and for specific countries/regions of the world 
  • Participate in the development and updating of recruitment materials including brochures, profiles, videos, webpages and social media posts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for recruitment related activities
  • Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident and must be able to pass a background check

Programs: The Office of International Education encompasses the Center for International Students and the Center for International Education Abroad. The Center for International Students Education functions as both the international recruitment and admissions office and the center for international student advising and support. The Center for International Education Abroad facilitates short-term and semester study abroad experiences for Truman students. Both offices are located in newly-renovated spaces on the first floor of Truman’s historic Baldwin Hall, along with the University’s Multicultural Affairs Center, a prayer room, and other interculturally-themed educational spaces.

The Community: Located in Northeast Missouri, Kirksville is a cultural and economic hub in the region. In addition to Truman, Kirksville is the birthplace of osteopathic medicine and has a medical school, dental school, and community college.
