The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing professional development programs and opportunities for the region; supporting and providing direct assistance to school districts in their efforts to address state and federal initiatives, reforms and mandates; building and promoting effective relationships with school district staff, university administrators and faculty, state department officials and community leaders; and supporting statewide implementation and coordination of the activities and objectives of DESE. 

This position also provides focused oversight and primary accountability for the RPDC budget and ensures grant compliance.

Expected start date is approximately July 1, 2021. 


Minimum qualifications include:  Master’s Degree in Education; school leadership experience as a principal or assistant superintendent, successful experience as a professional developer, an instructional coach, and/or instructor in an approved teacher preparation program; at least five years successful teaching experience in a Pre-K through 12th grade educational setting; excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills.  

Preferred qualifications include:  Ph.D or Ed.D in education; at least five years successful experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent; experience with school budgeting and grants management; successful experience supervising, motivating and evaluating staff and recruiting, hiring and terminating staff, as needed; demonstrated understanding of Missouri education initiatives, school improvement reforms and research.
