Building Trades Worker (2 positions available), Physical Plant

FUNCTION OF THE JOB:  Reports directly to the Building Trades Manager and is responsible for all types of interior and exterior carpentry/ millwright work on campus. 



  1. Install and repair doors, windows, roofing, walls, ceilings, flooring, modular furniture and other related structural and architectural items.
  2. Masonry work as assigned, including concrete and brick work.
  3. Assist in stage and tent set-up for special events.
  4. Complete work order documentation upon completion of work. 
  5. Initiate requests for necessary parts and supplies.
  6. Maintain orderly storage of tools, materials and equipment.
  7. Clean shop areas as needed.
  8. Be available for emergency night calls.
  9. Be available for overtime and weekend scheduled events.
  10. Schedule and oversee work of assigned part-time student employees.
  11. Assume all other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Building Trades Supervisor, including some maintenance duties outside of specialty.


  1. Must have the ability to read and understand product instructions and cautions, work orders, and work safety procedures.
  2. Must have the ability to use hand and power carpentry tools.
  3. Must have the ability to lift 80-lbs.
  4. Must have the ability to climb ladders.
  5. Must have the ability to understand and follow instructions given by the Supervisor.


Work history showing dependability and strong work ethic required. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license required.  Prior professional carpentry/ millwright work experience required, 2 years or more preferred. Candidates will be evaluated on verifiable past employment.
