Job Description:

The Leadership Development Specialist will provide a continuum of support for school leaders throughout their careers which includes professional development, mentoring, and coaching.  This position will engage in all Missouri Leadership Development System (MLDS)-related activities.

Expected start date is approximately July 1, 2021

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to—

  • Engaging regional principals in high-quality MLDS learning experiences/treatments.
  • Participating in regularly scheduled MLDS Specialist training sessions.
  • Providing training, support, and supervision of principal mentors.
  • Building regional awareness of MLDS opportunities through participant recruitment and mentor engagement.
  • Assisting with Leadership Academy events and activities.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development, improvement, and delivery of MLDS-related content.
  • Presenting leadership sessions at state-wide conferences and participating in state-wide initiatives related to school leadership in conjunction with DESE.
  • Conducting trainings to provide technical support to districts on programs relative to the competencies of the MLDS.

 

Qualifications:

Required include—

  • Master’s degree in Education/Leadership
  • Experience as a Principal or Assistant Principal
  • Five years successful classroom teaching, educational leadership, or related experience
  • History of active engagement in professional associations or peer-related groups
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in group and individual settings
  • Experience facilitating professional learning
  • Experience in collaborative professional settings

 

Preferred include—

  • Experience as a Superintendent
  • Understanding of the MLDS competencies
