The Health & Exercise Sciences Department in the School of Health Sciences and Education invites applications for a full-time instructor position in athletic training and exercise science.

Position Start Date:  August, 2021.

Responsibilities: The person in this position will provide classroom and clinical instruction in the Master of Athletic Training degree program and in either exercise science or health science at the undergraduate level. Teaching in athletic training will include satisfying CAATE accreditation standards. This individual will also fulfill academic duties including mentoring graduate student research, academic advising, assisting with curriculum development, and provide service to the University and community.


  • Earned master’s in athletic training, exercise science, health science, or related area.
  • Professional certification (candidate must have current NATA BOC certification)
  • Missouri Athletic Training licensure eligibility
  • Familiarity/experience with CAATE accreditation
  • Teaching effectiveness or the potential for teaching effectiveness in athletic training and either health science or exercise science areas
  • Evidence of commitment to liberal arts education as a teacher-scholar
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Athletic training clinical experience, especially involving student supervision
  • Additional post-master’s coursework in athletic training, exercise science, or health science
  • Previous successful college/university teaching experience
  • Evidence or demonstrated potential for supervising students as an Athletic Training Preceptor
  • Compatibility with department needs
  • Evidence or demonstrated potential for developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in students
  • Evidence or demonstrated potential for scholarly activity beyond the thesis or dissertation
