STEP Scholars Program Coordinator (Part-Time), STEP Office

The Program Coordinator reports to the Director of the STEP Office and collaborates with the school faculty and staff and support offices on campus to provide comprehensive advising and coordination services.  The coordinator will provide advising and professional development to science students participating in a need based scholarship program.  The coordinator will monitor advisee progress toward degree completion and meet regularly with students to review progress and performance.  The coordinator will be familiar with University academic policies and procedures to assist students in making decisions concerning educational goals.  Other responsibilities include coordinating tutors and other student workers, assisting with coordination of STEP program activities, including data collection and reporting, database management, communication with faculty, staff, other offices on campus and external stakeholders, maintaining websites, purchasing materials and other duties as assigned by the Director of the STEP Office.  This is a part-time, 9 month position.

Qualifications

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree, ability to work collegially and independently, to be goal-oriented and to be a self-starter, excellent written, oral, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or higher in a STEM field, Master's degree in student affairs, education or counseling, work experience in a higher education setting, experience in grant administration and program coordination, and experience in academic advising, career, or student developmental counseling.
