Truman State is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and enthusiastic individual to join our admission team as a Transfer Admission Counselor. The Transfer Admission Counselor will work with prospective students seeking to transfer to Truman State to complete their education goals. The Transfer Admission Counselor will serve as the student’s primary contact with the institution throughout their unique enrollment journeys. Regular duties of the Transfer Admission counselor include: 

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective transfer student
  • Maintain consistent communication with prospective students, community college transfer counselors, and other stakeholders
  • Meet with prospective students
  • Perform unofficial credit evaluations to assist prospective students in navigating college options
  • Represent the university at recruitment events on and off campus
  • Schedule regular appointments with assigned community colleges to meet with counselors and interested students, conduct information/recruitment sessions, and respond to potential inquiries.
  • Review applications and recommend decisions for admission
  • Assist with the enrollment process and transition programming of admitted transfer students
  • Serve as a backup for any other prospective student type (new first time, graduate, or non-degree)
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Previous experience as a transfer student a plus
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Cultural humility
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to stand for three hours
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to work non-traditional hours during busy times during the year
  • Expected travel: 15-20 percent regionally. Occasional overnight travel is to be expected.
