Coordinator of Media Relations & Event Management, Athletics

This is a full-time, entry level, 12-month position reporting to the Assistant Athletics Director for Communications and will assist with all phases of the athletics sports information/event management program. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of media relations for assigned sports
  • Organize game day coverage, student-worker schedules, and event management for athletic events
  • Write press releases, produce media information, and contribute/manage social media accounts
  • Update the athletics website, TrumanBulldogs.com      
  • Assist with video production of home athletic events
  • Provide content and materials for Truman State University Alumni Magazine
  • Potential to travel with teams to away contests, conference meetings, and NCAA tournaments
  • Coordinate and assign student game management staff for home athletic events
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Required qualifications include: a bachelor’s degree; demonstrated record of effectiveness in written and oral communication skills; computer proficiencies, especially with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign and Photoshop); previous work with an athletics communication office; ability to work nights and weekends.

Preferred qualifications include: experience with Sidearm Sports content management system, knowledge of and experience working with NCAA in-game scoring rules and software, graphic design creativity and knowledge, and proficiency in sports video productions.
